DATA MONKEY
Datamonkey is the latest of Anthony's music projects.
Sick...
Sick of being in a band,
Sick of dealing with a band
sick of dealing with human beings in general....
The Datamonkey project was born out of many long dark nights of
The Monkey King
loving the machine
and the machine loving him back.
Time to get back to music being fun again
Rather than a dirty look from a bass player.
A good set of 5.1 spwakers helps.
Probably why i've got tinnitus...
Done on Acid pro 4
these tunes are more an excersise in
Datamangement than in music.
but of course they Still rock.
But they rock in that monkeymachine way
Not in the analogue guitar and ampsy way.
Some were originally made as backing tracks
for 777 as that was the original idea
to use computers Vs guitars and everything else
but it didn't roll out that way,
Best intentions, often lost. As well as all the
Samples that made half of them in a Drive crash..
So although I still have the projects they are
but empty shells,
longing to see their samples again.
Which means no remixes...Bah.
Computahs they know what they do!
Shoulda backed up.
All my precious samples...
Gone to Dataheaven.
Sob...
Others with samples given to me by my good friend
well known Man about Hull City Centre...
Mal Atkin.
Whose enthusiam and beats programming skillz
on an Amiga 500
back in the day...
Still amaze me to this day.
Like my Andy Warhol to his Basquiat
He got me into this, showed me a new medium
I got the software and the rest is...
what you hear here.
Said Mal in his usual enigmatic way when
he heard them...
"MMM...If you ever got any GOOD samples you'd be dangerous..."
He didn't like the name though,
but I don't listen to everything he says.
Just some things, which is more than most.
Love you Mal hope you are well.
The album is called
YOU ARE IN TERMINAL 1
The cover was taken at Madchester Airport
on my way to a square job interview in Bucharest.
Didn't get the job but I got the foto so it wasn't all a waste.
See the movie "The KLM experience"
in the film section (coming soon). for more
on that particular journey.
The only live human voice on here
is the
Unknown Rapper
as I call him
who came as one of many samples
that Mal gave me.
He can have a credit if he ever shows up.
As I like his spittin'
For the rest, all samples and Even
"Microsoft Sam/Samantha"
got a look in on the act on
Artifical Intelligence
Just took a me while to teach
her how to sing on
Party Time Transmission.
My homage to the night
The Shoom club
threw a warehouse party in the Amsterdam Docks in 1988.
10 Guilders to get in and dance the night away.
MASSIVE stobelights and smoke,
lost in the electric fog. just like at Glastonury two years earlier, except then it was real fog and White lightning.
Again nothing more than clever word pad scripting.
But I always think anybody can do anything
then i'm sorry when they can't.
But they usually have something they're good at
It's just up to them to find it.
Music is my life, it's all that makes sense.
So if you can get your hand in your pocket and support a
starving artist at a Euro a track and 7 Euros for the
whole album. And with your support
you'll be hearing one of these on a
car advert sometime in the future, perhaps!
It's true...hughesy's gone commercial
But I'd make a far better rich person
than most as cash comes and goes...
But my friends stay forever,
and those you can't buy.
Contrary to what
Facebook
and
the like,
Would have you
beleive.
Now stop reading and get dancing.
Well if Charley Brooker can get away with it...
Why can't I?
Cos...
It's the bing and the bong of the magnetron,
Put my bananas in cold and they come out warm...
I'd do a mike drop but the mikes i've got cost a fortune
and i'm not a dick like Kanye West...
The Datamonkey....out!
